Case1: Holding the FIEC Accountable

Our Mission

The Institute for Justice and Reconciliation (IFJR) is launching an independent investigation into the Fellowship of Independent Evangelical Churches (FIEC) to assess its commitment to racial diversity and inclusivity. Our aim is to hold the FIEC accountable for its leadership structures and ensure that diversity efforts go beyond tokenism.

The Investigation

We will be reaching out to all FIEC-affiliated churches to gather data on the diversity of their congregations compared to their leadership teams. This will help determine whether ethnic minority representation in leadership aligns with the demographics of their congregations.

Additionally, we will be inquiring about the recruitment process for the FIEC's Intercultural Advisor to assess whether the appointment was based on genuine expertise or merely symbolic representation. We will ask:

  • What were the selection criteria?

  • Were other candidates considered?

  • What experience and qualifications were required for this role?

Why This Matters

The FIEC has claimed to promote diversity, yet concerns have been raised about the lack of practical action and genuine representation in leadership. Token appointments without real authority or expertise undermine meaningful change and fail to address systemic inequality.

Our Call to Action

We invite FIEC member churches, pastors, and congregants to participate in this investigation by sharing their insights and experiences. Transparency and accountability are essential for real progress. If you are part of an FIEC church and want to share your perspective, please contact us confidentially.

Ongoing Advocacy for Justice & Reconciliation

We have yet to receive a resolution to the concerns we have raised. Until meaningful action is taken, we will continue publishing research and thought pieces to provide direction, challenge systemic issues, and advocate for change. We hope these contributions will be received in good faith by the Board of Trustees.

Justice requires action—silence is not an option.
